Conversational Process Automation is a method for using customers’ commands via chat, messaging or voice input to execute business processes inside a company.
This means that customers can for example type the following messages to the chatbot on the company’s website “change my email address”. The chatbot understands this natural language query and prompts the customer to log in. After logging in, the chatbot asks the authenticated customer to submit their new email address and then saves that new email address to the company’s backend database.
Conversational Process Automation means that the customer can through natural language use communicate with a software program and tell the program to execute transactions. These can be making new orders, filing claims, checking for status of payment etc.
The chat widget becomes an interface to the company’s backend and the customer no longer needs to find relevant forms and fill them. The customer can simply tell the software what needs to be done and the software (the AI-based virtual customer assistant) executes the command.
